Panic Sense (Half-Life)
Familiar. The feeling of worn down seats and metallic clang of transit tracks. The ambience almost made Gordon Freeman feel relief, until his brain caught up with his surroundings. A jarring sense of déjà vu settles on him when he sees such a similar scene before him. Like he was back there on that day, but not exactly, and that is so much worse than just doing it all over again. After the initial anxiety of being somewhere washed over him, another feeling is added on top- vulnerable. Then a little bit of panic to top it off. As the train comes to a slow stop Gordon is looking down at his hands, then feeling around his person, then at his surroundings again. While the people around him mill about at their own pace, it doesn’t feel like anything has stopped for him, and he certainly can't risk being too slow to react. React to what?
